Running Journal 2/19/2020 – 2/25/2020

2/19/2020 – Morning run before work today on the treadmill. I should have gotten up earlier but I was still able to get in a few miles. Feels good to run before work. I didn’t weigh myself this morning… I don’t really like the scale right now in my life…

 – Goal for tomorrow – Run after work tomorrow. Extra shift! Continue to study for my marathon coaching.

2/20/2020 – I didn’t run today. The weather has been awful and it is really doing a number on my allergies. I don’t like not meeting my goals. I had to be in for an extra shift at 0600 and didn’t get a great sleep.

 – Goal for tomorrow – Try to breathe. Run if able

2/21/2020 – No running again today. The allergies are really bothering me this week. It’s tough to run when you can’t breathe well.

2/22/2020 – I went to Burn Boot Camp this morning for the first time. It was a really great workout. It was my first time there and I think I will continue to go to help develop my muscles and hopefully enhance my running. This was a cardio workout, which I hear they have every Saturday morning.

 – Goal for tomorrow – Rest day. Take a break, study.

2/23/2020 – Rested, busy day at work.

 – Goal for tomorrow – Get up early and go to bootcamp, then run in the morning after I’m done if there is time.

2/24/2020 – Today was awful. I was supposed to get up early but really felt terrible. I didn’t get a good nights sleep and felt like I could’t breathe when I woke up. All day at work I felt drowsy and like I was getting sick. I was told a few times by the nurses to go home, but we checked my temperature, and I didn’t have a fever. I think looking back that it was likely just really bad allergies.

 – Goal for tomorrow – If I am feeling better, get a run in, and maybe go to Burn Boot Camp.

2/25/2020 – This afternoon, the rain finally stopped. I was able to sleep better and felt much better rested. I decided to jog the 1.6 miles to Burn Boot Camp. The run felt really good and was a great warm-up for the workout. I didn’t know that we would be doing a killer leg workout before I went. I’m really glad that I didn’t know it was a leg day and I don’t think I will look at the schedule in the future so that I don’t purposefully decide not to go. I had to run back home. It felt ok but my calves were certainly burning going up the hill. I can already feel the soreness starting. It has been a long time since I exercised this way!

 – Goal for tomorrow – I have an extra shift tomorrow starting at 6 am, so I am going to try to go to the 4:30 boot camp and run after it is over. I am thinking about running to Swift Cantrell Park and then running back to Burn Boot Camp after my run is finished.

My reflections this week… I struggled this week with terrible allergies. I’m allergic to mold spores so when it rains like this in the south, I suffer terribly. I really need to decide at night to go to bed and turn off all electronics, especially if I intend on getting up at a decent hour. I did start playing some more tennis this past week with Brett and am planning on playing more. It is really fun and he is an awesome coach!
